Yüksel Görmez

Yüksel Görmez was born in 1967 in Anamur, Mersin. He graduated from the Department of Economics at Middle East Technical University in 1988. In 1989, he began his career at the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey. Until 2001, he worked at the General Directorate of Money Markets and Fund Management. In 1995, he completed his master’s degree at the University of Exeter in the United Kingdom, and in 2001, he earned his PhD from the City University in London. During this period, he conducted two research projects on electronic money and electronic gold at the Central Bank of Finland and the World Gold Council. In 2001, he was appointed to the Research and Monetary Policy Department as an economist. After serving as Financial Analysis Division Manager, he was posted to the Tokyo Representative Office in 2010, followed by the Beijing Representative Office in 2012. Upon returning from his overseas assignment in 2015, he continued working in the same unit as Senior Economist until 2018. He later served as General Manager of Financial Innovation Department after working at the Istanbul School of Central Banking. In 2023, he was assigned as an Advisor. On April 28, 2025, he was appointed as Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus by the TRNC Council of Ministers. He is married and has one child.
